Drinking coffee helps a great number of people make it through their day. However, when a person lives alone or has to be up before anyone else, brewing an entire pot of coffee is wasteful. The best case scenario that can be made for brewing an entire pot when only one cup is needed is that someone will pour the cooling leftover coffee down the sink, where the remnants of the substance can help keep the drains clean.
To avoid the waste and expense of excess coffee, there are over 300 single cup coffee brewers that are available. They have different attributes and vary greatly in price. Most prices range from $20 to $400, but there are a few that go into the thousands of dollars. Following are a few popular brands:
The Keurig Special Edition B60 brews 9.25 ounces from a single prepackaged container. It allows for adjustable brewing sizes and temperatures and is quite easy to use and clean. Some users say, however, that when larger amounts are brewed the coffee is weaker. This Keurig model sells for approximately $140.
The Nespresso D290 Pod machine can produce a single or double shot espresso of either 1.35 or 3.75 ounces and topped with a rich crema. An attractive feature of this Nespresso model is that it can also be used to produce 16 different varieties of espresso. This particular Nespresso model is at the top of the price and sells for approximately $360.
Among the more economical single cuppers is the Black & Decker Brew 'N Go. It uses regular ground coffee instead of pod and has a 15 ounce cup. It is easy to operate and features a thermal travel mug. The Black & Decker model sells for approximately $20.
Another quite economical brand of single cup coffee brewers is The Aerobic Aero Press. A paper filter and coffee grounds are placed over a plastic tube and held over a cup of hot water and then you push the plunger down and you have a single cup of coffee. Inexpensive, compact and easy to use, this model sells for about $25.
Since most people drink only one cup of coffee when they get up in the morning, the demand for a single cup coffee brewing technology has been great, and therefore quick to develop. The single cup coffee brewers are a great boon to people who live alone and who do not want to waste coffee or money. In an era of increasing coffee prices, the concept is especially welcome.
